TV Talkin’ is dedicated to celebrating the film and video record of the careers of my favourite artists. It started with Bob Dylan and has evolved from my own interest in Dylan, which started at the Blackbushe Aerodrome concert on 15 July 1978 (I went to see Eric Clapton and came away a Dylan convert). Since then I’ve bought the records, read the books and gone to more concerts. Importantly for me, I’ve also collected the rare film and television recordings that Dylan has made.

There’s a completeness about being able to see as well as hear artists performing that is essential, in my view, for a full appreciation of their work. It’s not something I could exactly put my finger on and define, but there’s a resonance in person or on film that’s often missing from the purely audio recording.

I started off TV Talkin’ as a Bob Dylan TV and Film page about 6 or 7 years ago; eventually I added seperate sites for Bjork (A Hidden Place), The Beatles (Fab4TV), Leonard Cohen (Diamonds in the Mine) and Hawkind (Do Not Panic!).  I don’t have the time or funding (or interest to be honest) to keep these all running as inependent entities so through 2011 I’ll be merging the structure of the sites under the TV Talkin’ ‘brand’ for all the music I want to collect.

These WordPress pages will be in prototype mode for a few months, but as content builds here and reduces elsewhere, it will hopefully be easier to maintain than seperate websites but still allow me to contribute to the tracking down and sharing of rare and hard to find performances of the best modern music (well, the stuff I like anyway!).  As well as the above, my other favourite artists, in no particular order, include Morrissey, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel, Amy MacDonald, U2 and David Bowie.

Trading: The usual rules apply – no commercially available items offered or wanted. These are all artists I respect and admire. I want to put money in their pockets, not take it out!

PayPal Donate: As ever, always happy to trade and can be flexible on what I trade for (memorabellia, books etc) .  I prefer to trade for new DVD material but if there’s something you need and you have nothing to trade I will provide discs in return for a small donation towards the costs of running the TV Talkin’ sites and tracking down new and rare films. Please contact me for details.

I am based in the UK but am happy to trade worldwide (DVDs are a mix of PAL and NTSC – not a problem for most people these days, but check if it’s an issue).

Enjoy!
